Breaking the Stigma: Depression in Brunei

08/06/2020

For this project I am working on the stigma surrounding depression in Brunei. Depression is serious and the person having it should get help and get treated.

Although there is an increasing awareness in Brunei, however, it is still considered a taboo topic and stigma surrounding people having depression.

I believe that stigma is resulted from the people's lack of knowledge and this creates a hole in the society and thus preventing people from getting the help and treatment that they truly need. One way to remove stigma is to increase awareness of the topic.

By breaking the stigma, people will help those having a depression and thus the person having a depression people will reach for help.

A few colourful badge pins for Okay Kau Kah campaign. The reason that I designed the badge pin as well, is because badge pins can be easily distributed to other people, in the streets, in school, and in public. There are various campaigns that use badge pins to promote and create awareness for their campaigns as well.

Banners can be helpful in maximising the exposure for the campaign. It can be put up on the sides of the road where, in a day, hundreds of people pass by and will see the banners.

Other than that, Okay Kau Kah campaign also has its own Instagram account. People who sees any of the deliverables can share the pictures with the hashtag #breakdepressionstigma and thus increasing exposure and awareness.
